FROM THE EAST

Brethren:  I am honored and humbled to have been elected your Worshipful Master for the 2012 Masonic Year.   It is with a great deal of appreciation I accept the Honor, and pledge to give you my best.   We have a lot to accomplish this year, and Worshipful Paul gave me a year of great things to emulate and carry on with.   I do plan to hold a Widows Luncheon, and Past Masters Dinner to honor those who have given so much to the Lodge as we did this last year.

However I apologize for not posting this letter sooner, but I wanted to have my first goal accomplished.   I called the second meeting for the Lodge Dark in January for the purpose of going to Callaway Lodge and retrieve the Traveling Gavel.  I am proud to say we did just that.  With the assistance of everyone we were able to contact enough Brothers to assemble 26 of us. Callaway was extremely surprised as we outnumbered the Callaway membership by 3 brothers.   We had our Fellow Craft  Jammie Lee Evens with us, for the purpose of giving back his F.C. Catechism at Callaway and be voted by their craft for proficiency.  He will now be raised at Pythagoras Lodge Thursday evening 19 Jan.   This visit was a huge success in many ways, as it was with their new line of officers and stimulated them to strive to reclaim the gavel.  I told them I only hope they have to go to some other Lodge to retrieve it.   One of my main goals this year is to stimulate more camaraderie between the Lodges of this district.

I have several items I would like to see the Lodge accomplish this year, and after I have my planning session with the other officers, I will publish the annual plan for all to see.   I have several things I must put together and am learning a lot as I go along.   However I promise you we will be off and running here by next meeting in February.   Which by the way will be 7 Feb, and I would love to pack the Lodge to hear what we plan.

Lastly we will be holding a Family night at Callaway on 31 January to eat at 6 PM.  So PLEASE bring your significant other and join us for a fine dinner and kick this year off in style.

Fraternally yours

Blaine Lashbrook - Worshipful Master

From the West

A new year has started and W\Lashbrook is hitting the ground running.  As you see in his message he is looking forward to a very active year for Harry Jackson Lodge and the Brethren.  The slate of Officers this year is dedicated to support W\Lashbrook in making this a memorable year.   It has already started: Jenks Ave cleanup led by Brother Jamie Leavins, reclaim of the gavel led by W\Lashbrook and seeing our new Master Mason (Jamie Lee Evans) raised at Pythagoras Lodge.  Harry Jackson Lodge will hold Master Mason Exam I, II, and III sometime in February or March.  When the dates are decided I will let you know.

As I am sure most of you know our Lodge building is in desperate need of repairs.  The section of roof over the Lodge Room has been leaking onto the ceiling in the Lodge Room and has damaged it.  The flat roof over the old section of the building is starting to show problems.  We got estimates back in the spring for new roofs and the prices were $11,900.00 for the gable roof (that is in desperate need of immediate repair) and $7,200.00 for the flat roof for a total of $19,100.00.  We have a fund started for these repairs, but we are a long way from having enough.  Any financial support you would be able to donate would be of great help.

Brothers, as you can see we are planning an active year and with you participation at Lodge it will be a great year!  I, as all the Officers do, hope to see you at the next Lodge meeting.

Fraternally,

George Hack, Senior Warden
