  Brethren,

2008 has started off to be a good year for Pythagoras Lodge and I would like to thank all of the brothers for their support as the Worshipful Master for 2008. Masonry is a proud institution and I hope to serve it to the best of my ability.

The District Deputy, RW:. Joe Paul, visited us on our first meeting of the year and the district committee men presented their programs. There is one of the programs that I would like to give special light to, and that is The Masonic Widows Fund for the 6th District. Brethren, if you're not a member of the Widow's Fund, please help uphold your obligation by joining this program. Each time a participating Mason dies, his widow is given money from the fund to help her and the family with immediate concerns. Please help support your Masonic widows and orphans, the money stays in this district. See or call the secretary, Ken Thorndyke, for the proper forms.

Special notice: Pythagoras Lodge's stated communication for February 28th will be dark. There will be a called communication in order to conduct a Master Mason Degree on this evening.

In weeks to come, I plan to bring ideas forth to ad some new activity to the lodge. We will be discussing plans to have a Past Masters night as well as a few fund raisers. Brother Bill Purchase is trying to establish a Tuesday morning coffee & donut social on upcoming Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m.. If you're interested, please call or email me and you will be notified of upcoming dates. Bill Cook is working on gathering donations to replace the alter in our lodge room. Please help Bill out, if he comes to visit you.

There are also, several great Masonic activities coming up in the near future, please put them on your calendar. Parker Lodge will be having the Eighth Annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday, February 16th. Judging from 11:00 to 12:00. Pythagoras plans to have several entries, so please plan to come and enjoy. It's a $3 donation. The Chitlin Degree in Chipley will be held on Saturday March 1st (more details to follow).. Easter Sunrise Service will be held at the Panama City Beach Pier at sunrise on Easter morning, March 23rd, co-hosted by The First Baptist Church of PCB & Pythagoras Lodge. In April, Masonic Day will be held on April 5th, and Open Books will be held on Saturday, April 19th.

Our Treasurer, Tim Sowell PM:. is the district committee man for the Child ID program. He reported that Kids Fest will be April 19th at GC Community College from 9-4. He needs volunteers. This is the same date as open books and will restrict the number of brothers able to participate. Last year almost 300 children were ID'd. Please help out by calling Tim Sowell at 774-0009 and committing your time.

I hope to see you at Pythagoras Lodge.

Kevin Brackins
Worshipful Master
